We are The Coalition for Fair Reviews. We believe in community based reviews. We hate cowardly censorship algorithms, although we very much understand the need to have moderators.

We have written and read many Yelp reviews. And we've dealt with Yelp sales, and had the same experience that many others expressed. Promises of help that are unfulfilled. Customers who write legitimate reviews about our business only to be censored - unfairly, without notification or recourse. We researched what was up with Yelp and the more we looked, the angrier we got that we hadn't heard much about this!

To date, there have been some great articles and half-assed attempts to fix this. We are fully assed.

The first phase of our campaign against Yelp is to raise awareness. And to get the FTC and others who should be concerned about Yelp to take action. You can help! Tell every businessperson you know to read this before spending money on Yelp advertising. Tell your friends to read this before writing any reviews. And if you are reading reviews on Yelp...well, good luck ferreting out the truth!
